The small print, part three
What this site knows about you
Almost nothing, and only if you agree to it first. Here is the whole of it, without the paragraphs of boilerplate that usually hide how little or how much is going on.

The short version
There is no account to create here, no newsletter, and nothing to fill in. If you read a guide and leave, nothing about you is stored anywhere except the ordinary server log that every website keeps.
Nothing that counts as tracking runs until you accept it in the little card at the bottom of the screen. Refuse it and the site works exactly the same.
The visit counter
If you accept, Google Analytics counts the visit: which pages were read, roughly where in the world the visit came from, whether it was a phone or a laptop, and which site you arrived from. It is used for one thing, which is knowing which guides are worth the time it takes to keep them current.
Your choice is remembered in your own browser under the name cookie_consent. Clear your browser data and the question comes back. Refusing keeps analytics switched off for the whole visit, on every page.
Booking links
Some activity links go to GetYourGuide or Viator. Following one hands you over to them, and from that point their privacy policy applies, not this one. They will set their own cookies to remember that you arrived from here, which is how the commission is attributed.
This site does not receive your name, your email, your card details or your booking. It is told a number, once a month, and nothing about who you are.
Hosting and logs
The pages are served by Netlify, which keeps short-lived technical logs including IP addresses, the way any web server does. They exist to serve the page and to stop abuse, and are not read for anything else.
If you email
Write to us and the message sits in a normal mailbox until it is answered, then stays in the thread. It is not added to any list, because there is no list.
Your rights, and how to use them
Under the GDPR you can ask what is held about you, ask for it to be corrected or deleted, or object to it being processed at all. In practice there is very little to ask for, which is deliberate.
Ask by email and you will get an answer within 30 days. If the answer is unsatisfactory, you can complain to the Portuguese data protection authority, the CNPD.
